Meet Catherine

20J-143-1.jpg

A lifelong east-end resident, Catherine grew up in a bilingual household. After graduating from Carleton with a Bachelor of Journalism, she became the editor of the Orléans Star newspaper.

Through reporting on the area, Catherine attended countless public consultations, fundraisers, community association meetings, open houses and events hosted by elected officials at every level of government. Catherine’s knowledge of the issues facing the east end, experience advocating for it and genuine care for its growth and well-being were motivating factors in putting her name forward to represent her community at city hall.

Alongside her career in journalism, Catherine has held various roles in corporate communications, marketing and strategic planning. She is a proud member of the multi-partisan organization Equal Voice, a Carleton University Alumni Mentor and has volunteered with the Heart of Orléans BIA, CHEO, Canadian Hemochromatosis Society and other groups.

Catherine and her spouse, Shane, live in Navan—in an area where his family has been farming since the 50s—and are proud to belong to the diverse community that is Cumberland Ward.
